Frequently Asked Questions About CBD

Our goal is to provide answers to common questions about CBD on this page.

1What is CBD?

Cannabidiol—CBD—is a cannabis compound that has significant medical benefits, but does not make people feel “high” and can actually counteract the psychoactivity of THC. The fact that CBD-rich cannabis is non-psychoactive or less psychoactive than THC-dominant strains makes it an appealing option for patients looking for relief from inflammation, pain, anxiety, psychosis, seizures, spasms, and other conditions without disconcerting feelings of lethargy or dysphoria.

Scientific and clinical research—much of it sponsored by the US government—underscores CBD’s potential as a treatment for a wide range of conditions, including arthritis, diabetes, alcoholism, MS, chronic pain, schizophrenia, PTSD, depression, antibiotic-resistant infections, epilepsy, and other neurological disorders. CBD has demonstrable neuroprotective and neurogenic effects, and its anti-cancer properties are currently being investigated at several academic research centers in the United States and elsewhere. Further evidence suggests that CBD is safe even at high doses.

2How CBD Works?

All cannabinoids, including CBD, produce effects in the body by attaching to certain receptors.

The human body produces certain cannabinoids on its own. It also has two receptors for cannabinoids, called the CB1 receptors and CB2 receptors.

CB1 receptors are present throughout the body, but many are in the brain.

The CB1 receptors in the brain deal with coordination and movement, pain, emotions, and mood, thinking, appetite, and memories, and other functions. THC attaches to these receptors.

CB2 receptors are more common in the immune system. They affect inflammation and pain.

Researchers once believed that CBD attached to these CB2 receptors, but it now appears that CBD does not attach directly to either receptor.

Instead, it seems to direct the body to use more of its own cannabinoids.

3How Do You Take CBD Oil?

We recommend that you start off by applying 1 full dropper under the tongue, holding it there for about 35-45 seconds so it can be absorbed before swallowing. It can also be added to water, coffee, smoothies, juices etc.

CBD oil is most readily available as a tincture. This can be taken by applying a few drops under your tongue, holding in your mouth for a few moments so it can be absorbed, before swallowing. It can also be added to water or smoothies. A spray form is available (simply spritz under your tongue), as are capsules, creams that can be applied topically, and e-liquid for vape pens.

When it comes to dosage, guidelines state you should start with the smallest possible dose and gradually build up – its effects should be immediate, so you will be able to tell if the lower dosage is working for you. However, it’s always best to consult your doctor before trialing any new medication or remedy.

4How Does Nano Technology Work?

Basically, all-natural, specific hemp-derived cannabinoid particles are made water-soluble and extremely bio-available by a process called Nano-emulsification.

With most consumer products, only about 10% of the particles get used by your body. That’s because a cell cannot fully absorb a particle that is bigger than it. Cannabinoid particles measure about 2,000 nanometers (or millionths of a meter). Human cells can only absorb particles that measure 60-80 nanometers.

Nano-emulsifacation makes the particles small enough for your body to fully utilize them and reap the benefits. The specific cannabinoid particles in Nano Ultra™ are small enough for the body to fully absorb at the cellular level. This process makes Meraki CBD oil a powerful, cost-effective option. The smaller particles created by nanotechnology mean enjoying better results AND no more wasting 90 percent of the product.

5What Is Total Bioavailability?

Meraki CBD has successfully addressed absorption deficiencies with its proprietary Technology.

The enhanced solubility created with this technology sets the stage for greater Total Bioavailability, resulting in a maximum desired response. Total Bioavailability means the degree to which an active ingredient becomes available for its desired purpose after entering the body. It has two components:

  • Blood bioavailability, the amount of an active ingredient that reaches the bloodstream;
  • Functional bioavailability, the amount that actually exerts its health-enhancing effects.

Typically, as much as 95 percent of ordinary CBD is destroyed on its way to the bloodstream. Then, only a fraction of what gets there yields any effects. Without efficient Total Bioavailability,
ordinary CBD products are of limited use.

Studies show that CBD coupled with our exclusive Technology does not degrade in the stomach, as does ordinary CBD. Also, our patent-protected technology greatly enhances the transport of CBD to the bloodstream and then to sites in the body where it can achieve the desired response.

Meraki CBD and its vastly superior Total Bioavailability multiplies the strength of our products far beyond the reach of competitors. The profound advances made by doing credible science have positioned us to be the global leader in setting industry standards for quality, performance, and Total Bioavailability. The implications of our advances for transforming CBD use are beyond calculation.
